2017 Ford Explorer Model Details

The 2017 Ford Explorer has an even sportier feel than its predecessors. Even though it is not meant to be a completely off-road rough and tumble SUV, it is one of the best front-wheel-drive (or all-wheel-drive) vehicles on the market. And it does have different modes for different environments-- for example, "Snow" mode can be engaged quickly when the weather turns rough. The standard engine is a 3.5-liter V-6 engine which produces a maximum of 290 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque, while the upgraded models come with a 2.3-liter four-cylinder turbo engine that generates a maximum of 280 horsepower and 310 lb-ft. It can also tow more than its 2016 cousin, now up to 3,000 pounds. Our Ford dealers near Mesa would love to give you a test drive today!

2017 Ford Explorer Safety

The Ford Explorer has also scored incredibly well on federal safety tests. The 2016 Ford Explorer nearly aced federal testing with a perfect five-star overall rating. It also received a four-star score for rollover safety, which is very good among tall-riding SUVs. The 2017 model hasn't finished testing yet, but much of the structure has remained the same since 2016.

2017 Ford Explorer Features

The biggest addition to the feature line-up for 2017 is a brand new, completely upgraded infotainment system. The MyFord Touch system has been replaced with SYNC 3, which is a unit that has been incredibly well-adopted by Ford drivers. The SYNC 3 system is much slicker and expressive than the older system.
